March 13th AUVSI Lindbergh Chapter Meeting
Meeting Minutes (3/13)
Positive Attribute List
- Bob Fritz's Global Hawk presentation was excellent
- The flight test videos (Global Hawk & VTUAV) Bob brought were also excellent
- Face-to-face introductions between all attendees, excellent networking
- Good feed back on chapter mission and gathering times
- Next meeting options are plentiful; schedule & venue TBD
- Room was ideal size with good facilities (most important: FREE)
- Didn't run out of pizza or soda, in-fact a significant amount was used to fuel higher education :-)
Need Improvement List
- Parking was unacceptable
- Date of meeting was poor for students (finals next week)
- Time of meeting was poor for family folks (a lunch preference was indicated)
- Attendence was weak, longer range planning necessary, e-mail notification alone was insufficient?
- Didn't get a video camera to record any part of the meeting or presentation
Action Items
- Establish next promotional gathering
- Hold a chapter business meeting
- Strengthen contacts at SDSU and ?
- Log comments to:

Synopsis
The Lindbergh Chapter of the AUVSI is hosting a meeting 6:30pm-8:30pm
March 13th, 2000 on the UCSD campus, room 4307 of EUB1. This meeting
centers around a presentation of the Ryan Aeronautical Global Hawk and
possibly the VTUAV. There will be some snacks that will be served on an ‘until gone’
basis. The motivations for this meeting are:
- 1. promote our Lindbergh Chapter of the AUVSI.
- 2. entice new membership through an attractive presentation.
- 3. briefly address the ‘state of the chapter’ and listen to your ideas.
- 4. introduce the AUVSI to folks who may not know the who and what.
- 5. plan for our next meeting.

It has been rumored that the intensive campus improvements over the last decade have be funded solely with fines collected from parking violations, yes a drawback of this location is a required parking fee of $3.00 see this link for details: parking.ucsd.edu/parking/pkvis.html There are several ways around this (in no particular order): 1) carpool, 2) park off campus (if your a distance walker), 3) use a metered space (if you can find one), 4) take a bus, 5) ride a bike 6) illegally borrow a student or faculties permit. 7) take a chance on not paying, the fine is very steep. 8) bribe the ticket writer 9) use the company car
If You Cannot Attend
- There remains a number of technical hurdles but the intent is to eventually web-cast these meetings, i.e. record the meeting for later broadcast on the internet.
- Detail the times and places you think would be more appropriate for meetings on the bulletin board.
